NEST Students Arrive at ELI

1409783850140Nine world-class athletes from Korea arrived on campus Tuesday to participate in a project called the Global Sports Leadership Program–a partnership between UT’s Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sports Studies (KRSS) and South Korea’s Next Generation of Sports Talent (NEST). The athletes will be at UT through February. While on campus they will take classes at the English Language Institute (ELI) and participate in seminars and field trips related to sports studies offered through KRSS.

The project, funded by NEST, assists the participants in their life transition from full-time athletes to career professionals and administrators. This is the seventh year UT has hosted the program.

This year’s participants include 3 men and 6 women. A tenth participant is still in Korea awaiting visa issuance. The sports represented among the group are soccer, table tennis, basketball and baseball.
